Fine & Fleurie has participated in The NotWedding Atlanta for the past three years and it has really become an event we look forward to. This season’s theme was bright and modern, in a very geometric-meets-Kate Spade way. I created a custom belt and mini hat in shades of light ivory, black and hot pink for our bride and I just love how graphic the look turned out. I’m also grateful to have had the chance to style the bridesmaids in awesome green Donna Morgan gowns from ModCloth. It was such a fun party and I cannot think of a better event to cap off our time in Atlanta! Check out the full list of vendor involved here.

I’m excited to share my interview that was recently published on Style Me Pretty! I loved getting the chance to share some insights into styling for your big day and also a bit about what inspires my work! Read the original publication here!
1. Tell us about Fine & Fleurie. What exactly do you do?
Fine & Fleurie is a line of handcrafted bridal accessories that is best known for our signature mini hats, headbands and veils. We have also branched out to provide fashion styling services to brides, bridal parties and photographers. I love working with clients to put together their special looks, and as a natural bargain-hunter and vintage-lover, there really isn’t a more perfect job for me!
2. Where does your passion for bridal accessories stem from?
I’ve always loved working on a small scale and I’m drawn to lovely tailored designs that are easy to wear and not too fussy. These characteristics have all deeply rooted themselves into my accessory designs. My feminine style and love for luxurious fabrics made the choice to design bridal pieces a natural progession. There is also something so satisfying about creating the “finishing touch” on a look. Accessories are the best way to make a look truly one’s own.
3. What inspires the style and creation of your designs?
I’m most inspired by color and always feel amazed at how the hue and hand of a fabric can cause a flood of creativity. I also love fashion magazines and get inspired by interesting lines and textures in the artful clothing designs. Although these combinations don’t always translate directly into bridal designs, it’s a great way to spark some imagination. In the end I’m always the most mindful about the quality and wearability of my pieces, both of which are F&F hallmarks.
4. How do you recommend brides approach hairstyling when using an accessory?
When deciding on a hairstyle (and an accessory!), I almost always suggest brides choose something that will let her feel like herself, but a bit more polished. I also think that keeping the hair soft and natural makes for the most well-styled bride. Sweetly swept-up is a classic look that will always be “in”.
5. What is your favorite Fine & Fleurie piece?
My favorite pieces to create are most certainly the mini hats. There are so many possibilities for custom colors and styles, and they suit an updo so beautifully!
6. What is your absolute favorite part of a wedding?
My favorite part of a wedding is usually the father-daughter dance. It’s such an emotional interaction and always feels like that pivotal moment when a bride realizes this is the start of a whole new chapter in life.
Most of my blogs are picture-heavy, pretty-laden and contain few words. This one is a little different and almost completely picture free. But, I still feel like it’s a worthy read. This is the first post about the next chapter for me and for Fine & Fleurie. We (I, F&F as a business, my husband and the boys) are moving… to Italy… no, really. Like, next week. I’ve decide to chronical my journey, the transtion, potential perils, and sure-to-come photographs of pizza, amazing street fashion and our new digs here on the blog. I figure it will keep things interesting while my studio makes it’s way across the Atlantic ocean. Pray that barge doesn’t sink… please.
So, the only picture I’ll be including here is this little map of Italy, which will probably almost always be referred to as “The Boot” here. We’re headed to Vicenza and that’s near the top of The Boot and about half way between Milan and Venice. Vicenza is a techy city and also Italy’s largest producer of fabric, including silk. Go figure, right? Life works in mysterious ways.
If you haven’t moved internationally before, then you might not know that moving your stuff across the ocean is all about weight, time and essential-ness. Today the movers came to pack up most of my studio as our “unaccompanied baggage”. Having to rank our home, my life and belongings by “essential-ness” is terrifying and SO hard. It could take up to 3 months for our entire home’s contents to arrive. At the moment that big empty truck rolled up, everything felt essential. I have to entrust complete strangers to transport my most precious things half way around the world. Trust. Lesson number one of a big life change.
So, as I stood in my little space (which at this point looked like a combination episode of Hoarders and Antique Roadshow) with two impatient movers judging my inability to decide what could go immediately, I had to take a breath and tell myself: It’s only stuff. Really, it is. Of course, there are things that are so precious to me, like my baby books and old family photos that represent the only tiny sliver I have of my past. But honestly, even now, as the moving truck is broken down in my driveway, waiting for it’s back-up to come get them and I’m left to wonder if our things will ever make it, I feel more at peace than I did when I woke up this morning. The wheels are turning on this adventure and there’s no turning back. I’m trusting that everything happens for a reason, even if I can’t understand it in the moment.
From a business stand-point, I do want to take a moment to mention what will be changing and what will not. Lists are easy to read, so let’s do that.
What will change:
-Orders will be shipping from Italy, so if you want to wear F&F on your wedding day (hope so!) then you will just need to order at least a month prior to your wedding.
-My Instagram and Facebook feeds will be getting a whole lot more exciting. Seriously, follow along on this pizza-loving, espresso-sipping adventure.
-I’ll have access to even more amazing, unique and high-end fabrics and finishes for our line!
-A super exciting (but currently top-secret) project will officially be put into production.
-We’ll be working with some of Europe’s best wedding professionals! We’ll also have an open-door policy for any Atlanta friends that want to come visit.
What will NOT change:
-Fine & Fleurie will continue to ship in a timely, worldwide way.
-We will still be a handcrafted company, committed to providing gorgeousness to more than 1300 clients per year.
-We will still ship to the United States via USPS Priority mail with super reasonable rates.
Whew! Did you make it through all of that? I hope so and I hope you’ll follow along on this next chapter. I’m so excited to share all that we have in store!
The weather this past Sunday was a perfect example of why I love the South. It was balmy, a little breezy and with just a few whispy clouds in the sky. Growing up in Massachusetts, I never thought of March as a month with amazing weather, but the South changed that for me. It also happened to be the day I got together with some of the most talented ladies in Augusta to shoot a pretty spring Save the Date project. I’m grateful to get the chance to style such a gorgeous pair. Tori our model is utterly gorgeous and could definitely work the camera. Here is a teensy peek at my floral design and fashion styling. I’m so in love with these images! More soon!
